Denise Amyot is the President and CEO of the Association of Canadian Community Colleges (ACCC). The Association is the national and international voice for 130 of Canada’s publicly funded colleges, institutes and polytechnics, serving 1.5 million learners of all ages and backgrounds at campuses in 1,000 urban, rural and remote communities.
Denise Amyot was most recently the President and CEO of the Canada Science and Technology Museums Corporation, a federal crown corporation including three national museums – the Canada Agriculture and Food Museum, the Canada Aviation and Space Museum, and the Canada Science and Technology Museum.
Denise Amyot was also the Senior Vice-President of the Leadership and Talent Management Sector at the Canada Public Service Agency (now Treasury Board), leading and managing leadership development programs, and developing policies for employees and executives throughout the Public Service of Canada.
She has worked both in National Headquarters and in regions in several federal departments including Human Resources Development Canada, National Defence, Natural Resources Canada, Canadian Heritage, and the Public Service Commission. In her former two roles as Assistant Deputy Minister, she was respectively responsible for the corporate management services as well as public affairs and ministerial services. She has worked extensively in policy and line operations in the context of programs and service delivery, in social, scientific, economic, and cultural areas. She also worked for a few years with the Department of Education in the Government of the Northwest Territories and was a teacher in Ontario and Yellowknife.
Among her several responsibilities as a volunteer, Ms. Amyot is the past President of the Institute of Public Administration of Canada, past Vice-President of the Head of Federal Agencies Steering Committee, past member of the Boards of Governors at Algonquin College and at the University of Ottawa, member of the Editorial Board of the Canadian Government Executive magazine. She is also the former President of the Association of Professional Executives of the Public Service of Canada and former President of the Communications Community Office. She also was a Director for Regroupement des gens d’affaires, and an active member of United Way Committees and Director of a Foundation.
Currently, she is Chair of the World Federation of Colleges and Polytechnics and the Chair of the Advisory Committee of the Institute of Science, Society and Policy (ISSP) and on the Human Resources Policy Committee of the Chamber of Commerce and on the Advisory Council of the Schulich Centre for Excellence in Public Management, Western University.
Ms. Amyot has obtained a Master's degree in Education and three Bachelor degrees in Biology, in Arts and in Education. Dedicated to a strong values-based leadership in the Public Service, Denise is also passionate about sailing, cross-country skiing and networking.
Denise is the recipient of several awards in leadership and a sought after speaker both at the national and international levels.
