An experienced governance executive, Genevieve (Gen) is the most senior advisor on governance issues at the University of Waterloo. Gen provides leadership and expertise to ensure the effective operation and administration of the University of Waterloo Secretariat and governance system, including the Board of Governors, Senate and their various committees and councils, in addition to employee and student relations and quasi-judicial committees. She also provides oversight for the institutional policy framework and student ombuds office.

Prior to joining the University of Waterloo in 2023, Gen spent 17 years in progressive roles in the University Secretariat at the University of Guelph, including six years as University Secretary and Chief Privacy Officer.

Gen holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts (Political Science) from Wilfrid Laurier University, a Master of Arts (Leadership) from the University of Guelph, and the Chartered Director designation from The Directors College and McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business.
